Weekend on LBI It’s 5:00 and the weekend’s here, tell the Boss he can kiss my rear. Headin’ south on the GSP, ain’t getting’ off till exit 63. It’s sum-sum-summer time down the shore, get me a cocktail like the one before. Hey I’m pretty thirsty betta make it four. It’s sum-sum-summer time down the shore, Now Friday nite at Nardi’s Bar, ten of us arrive in Unk’s car. The long front door line we ignore, and enter ‘round back thru the kitchen door. Big Bart’s on stage with the Hit and Run Band, and Cleveland serves us a beer for each hand. In the corner in the back we make our space, near the Men's Room, by the Bowling, our standing place Unks buys the band shots of JD, and this gets Big Bart singin’ ‘bout ol’ Tennessee. After closin’ time, Joey shouts out the Ravoli song, and the remaining late niters join in to sing-a-long. Then it’s ten bar pies to go for a late nite snack, but those bar pies are gone on the ride back.. And it’s sum-sum-summer time down the shore, get me a cocktail like the one before. lookin’ for a girl who knows the score. It’s sum-sum-summer time down the shore, Saturday morning coffee’s on the stove, little while later we’re tubing in Turtle Cove. By mid-afternoon the party’s on the dock, the boom box is rockin’ and the cooler gets stocked. Suddenly Paddy D’s belly floppin’ rite into the lagoon, and the girls flash their boobs from the upstairs room. Unks crys he's hungry for a piece of meat in his belly, so Papa John works the kitchen like a chef in a gourmet deli. sun sets and Happy Hour turns to a House Party, before we hit the road again to party with Nardi. Can't be beat for Sunday Night fun. See Monty sing from atop the bar. Nothing beats the free bus ride home at the end of the night. I can't comment on the other 6 days of the week. I haven't been there. |
