With some reservation I let my husband talk me into dining at the Smithville Inn. It was only that our last visit (I come to find out under previous owners) was not overly impressive. As much as I hate to say my husband made the right choice... He did. From the moment we walked in I knew it was under new ownership or management. It was beautifully decorated for the season and we were immediately greeted by a courteous host. He found us a lovely window table overlooking the grounds that slope down to a private lake. The service was equally professional... Its clear that the management appreciates the finer points of upscale dining.I only know of a handfull of places that dilligintly replace silverware and crumb the table between each course. The menu is anchored somewhat in the past but there are a few eclectic dishes and everything we had on this and our subsequent visits has been excellent. And the best part is the prices are reasonable, definitly not Phila. We have made this place a regular stop on our trips to and from Atlantic City. I have my husband convinced it was my idea to come back to this place. |
